Statement

As an artist working with new technologies, I am interested in the blurry border between the technical and the poetical, the machine and the living. I pay attention to the insights art, science and technology can give me about life. Art is about the artificial and the natural, about thinking and acting, designing and crafting. Programming, computation, code, biology, language, body, painting: all of them are different perspectives over the same substance, from which we can create, get inspired, get to know more about ourselves.

I see art and technology as parts of a historical process in which they blend with cultural, economical, political and other social forces. My main strategy is thus one of technology hijacking: its objective is to give insight, to get us to renew our cultural codes. I am mostly interested in how our media, language and cultural processes shape, through time, our relation with the world, the other, and the self.

My recent work has been focused on art pieces that modify themselves through time. I am interested in the spectator leaving an imprint on a unique canvas. By doing so, interaction happens through time: the spectator takes an active part in a deferred expressive process. I put a frame around that process, I give it rules, so as to give a direction, a certain shape, to that expression.
