Trace (V)

Abstract

Trace V is a collective work that brings together three artists of Perte de Signal: Sofian Audry, Myriam Bessette and Jonathan Villeneuve. Pooling the plastic and conceptual concerns of the artists, the project relates to the intimate link between the work and the visitor: immersed in a sensory and interactive space, the visitor is put face-to-face with his own presence, with his own sensitivity.

Description

Trace V is the sequel of Trace L. It deals with the formal interpretation of machine and human memory. A camera records the spectator’s presences. As the spectator image is getting recorded, a TV monitor is showing glimpses of images that are ether part of its memory or filmed in real time. Mount on the motorized winch, the TV monitor diffuse the building and functioning of that unstable mechanical memory. A narcissist dynamic establish as the piece act as a recipient, active witness of the temporality.
